Project Description:
One of the toughest, most demanding projects Dynalectric has ever undertaken involved the design/build renovation and expansion of the Oakland Coliseum between the end of the football and the start of the baseball seasons.
The project consisted of two separate thrusts: first, renovate the West end, top to bottom including Press Box, concessions, restrooms, lockers, food preparation and second, install the "new" club level prior to baseball season.
While renovating the West end, Tutor-Saliba was building the new East end which consisted of a seven-level structure which contained 90 new suites for football, concessions, rest rooms, club levels, and maintenance storage and all required to be operational prior to September 1st.
As an added hurdle, Mitsubishi provided two Diamond Vision scoreboards which required around the clock installation to have operational for the sporting venues.
With the exception of the roof's mechanical systems, the total structure was built from the ground up. A new N.B.A. standard lighting and sound system as well as voice, data, MATV, broadcasting and security systems bring this arena to state-of-the-art in sports entertainment.
The Oakland Coliseum was a $120 million renovation and addition in 9 months design and build.
